The two Premier League players Southampton should sign in January

Southampton are in a relegation dog fight and nobody can deny that. To help them stay in the Premier League they would seriously benefit from some investment in the January transfer window.

And the manager has already recognised the need for reinforcements: “We have a few positions where we have a lot of alternatives and other positions, we don’t have any. This is not healthy when we have suspensions or injuries. The problem is the (transfer) fee for Premier League clubs is always very high. We will try to bring two guys in.”

So two players and it seems they want to sign Premier League established players to help them stay in the division.

Who do you think they will sign? Put your money where your mouth is at today.

1 – Emi Buendía

Emi Buendía is one of the Premier League most creative attack-minded midfielders and he is exactly what Southampton need. Norwich won’t want to sell to a relegation rival but they have not been starting Buendia regularly and if Southampton could offer that to the player, then he could help force through a move.

2 – Reiss Nelson (loan)

Arsenal are blessed with attacking talent and following the signing of Nico Pepe, Nelson’s first team opportunities have been hard to come by. Arsenal are likely to allow Nelson to leave the club on a temporary basis if he is guaranteed game time in the Premier League. This would be a low cost option for the club and help them address the lack of quality they have in wide areas.
